Hi, folks ... I'm Jack Perdue, and I'm the curator of the world's largest
Web museum on the life and death of Bill Gates, BillGatesisDead.com. Now,
before you start believing all the hype that sometimes is written about me
and my work in the media, I figured you might want to hear the truth
straight from the horse's mouth.
Despite the tremendous amount of press coverage and television appearances
that I'm involved with as an expert on Bill Gates, this site isn't a massive
media effort, IPO candidate or corporate megalith. In fact,
BillGatesisDead.com is entirely a personal effort I make in my free time ...
although I shouldn't overlook the important contributions made by volunteer
programmers, designers, writers ... and you, my loyal readers. My great
strength as a curator (aside from the amount of research I've personally
conducted) is my relationships with the key players in Gates community and
their volunteer assistance with this important archive.
For the longest time, I used to dream of one day actually making my living
off of curating this humble museum about Bill Gates. At the time, I was an
electrical engineer at well-known airplane manufacturer in the St. Louis
area with a job that afforded me the luxury of sneaking a little time to
maintain this site. As most of you know, September was not a good month for
anyone in any industry associated with airplanes, and it didn't surprise me
that much to find myself among those pink slipped in early October. It's
been a difficult time for me personally since then, leaving me no choice but
to sell the house I could no longer afford.
But, in a way, this has ended up being a good experience for me, and has
left me even more time to dedicate to the BGID site in those irregular hours
between part-time jobs. When South American
anti-capitalists hacked my site in Novemember, it just served to
galvanize me more. Two years after this shocking murder, the need for
meaning and answers seems all the more poignant and compelling.
If you want to reach me with questions about Bill Gates, inquire about
conducting an interview or making a media appearance, or just want to tell
me your own personal Gates stories, the best way to do that is via email at
jperdue@billgatesisdead.com. If you're looking to recommend a site for
inclusion in the "Bill Gates on the Web" archive, please use the online form
I've posted in order to help me keep all that information organized in one
place.
Your curator,
Jack Perdue
